Mary Katherine Bowen

Mary Katherine Bowen is the 2008 Dr. and Mrs. Barney Osborne Memorial Scholarship winner. She is the daughter of Tony and Patty Bowen of Ironton. During high school she was a member of the Educational Talent Search since freshman year. She was also a member of Delta Epsilon Phi (German Honorary) since sophomore year and was the president during her senior year. Other activities included being a member of the German Club, for which she was vice-president during her senior year. During her junior year, she was picked to join the National Honor Society, and in her senior year, she served as the secretary.
One of Mary Katherine’s significant achievements was maintaining perfect attendance through all four years of high school. She graduated with a 3.547 GPA and was ranked 16th out of 104 graduates. During the summer of 2007, she volunteered with the Wayne National Forest – Iron District, accumulated over 300 hours, and this summer (2008) was chosen for a job with the organization.
