Ironton High School Commencement

The Dr. and Mrs. Barney Osborne Memorial Scholarship started in 1998 and has run continuously at each of Ironton High School’s commencements since that year.
Tonight marks our twenty-sixth scholarship. The award is named for my father, who served Ironton as a doctor and surgeon for over 30 years until his passing in 1985, and my mother who worked with my dad, supported her three children and was a long-time Ironton resident until her passing in 2002.
The scholarship is a one-time, $3,500 award. Tonight’s winner is a Summa Cum Laude with Distinction graduate, a Senior Class Officer, a member of the Marching Band, Spanish Club, as well as being a tutor for Kindergarten students. Our winner was also a member of the Lawrence County Civic Scholars Program. I am proud to announce tonight’s winner of the Dr. and Mrs. Barney Osborne Memorial Scholarship – Ms. Danielle Leonard.
