Ironton High School Commencement

Tonight’s winner of the Dr. and Mrs. Barney Osborne Memorial Scholarship has already won several awards this evening. It’s become our honoree’s show tonight. The Dr. and Mrs. Barney Osborne Scholarship started in 1998 and has run continuously at each of Ironton High School’s commencements since that year. The scholarship is named for my father who served Ironton as a doctor and surgeon for over 30 years until his passing in 1985 and my mother who worked with my dad, supported her three children and was a long-time Ironton resident until her passing in 2002.
I am most excited this evening because our winner will be attending the University of Kentucky majoring in Kinesiology. Most of you probably don’t know that I am currently employed at the University of Kentucky as an Adjunct Professor Of Accounting. So I hope to get to meet our winner for a longer period of time as he starts his college career.
Since everyone has already heard all the accolades and accomplishments while at Ironton High, I’ll get right to the introduction of our winner. Tonight we honor Angelo Washington as the 2022 winner of the Dr. and Mrs. Barney Memorial Scholarship here at Ironton High School.
