Ironton High School Commencement
May 30, 2005

Good evening. My name is Dave Osborne and I am here to present the Dr. and Mrs. Barney Osborne Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is named for my father, a lifelong resident of Ironton and a doctor and surgeon for over 30 years until his passing in 1985. He loved Ironton and would be proud to know his name is associated with this scholarship. My mother, who passed away in 2002, also had a love for Ironton and a passion for higher education. Therefore it is only fitting that her name be included on the scholarship. This is the seventh year for the scholarship. It is a one-time, $1,000 scholarship given to an outstanding student here at Ironton who has excelled not only in school, but also in the community and extracurricular activities.
Tonight’s winner is graduating Magna Cum Laude. Our winner participated in many clubs and teams including Math Club, German Club and the Volleyball Team. Our winner also was a member of the National Honor Society and Science Club.
It is an honor and a privilege to present the 2005 Dr. and Mrs. Barney Osborne Memorial Scholarship to Casey Brislin.
