Ironton High School Commencement

Good evening. My name is Dave Osborne and I am the son of Dr. and Mrs. Barney Osborne. Tonight we offer our family scholarship for the 12th consecutive year here at Ironton High School. The scholarship is in honor of my father, who, as a surgeon and family physician, served the community of Ironton and Lawrence County for over 30 years before his passing in 1985 and my mother, who supported our family and my father and lived in Ironton almost all of her life before her passing in 2002. The scholarship is a one-time $1,500 award given to an Ironton High School graduating senior who has excelled not only in the classroom and in extracurricular activities, but has also served the Ironton community. Tonight’s winner clearly meets all of the scholarship requirements. More importantly she wants to further her education with a goal of becoming a Pediatric ICU nurse, for which my father would fully endorse. I am proud to present the 2010 the Dr. and Mrs. Barney Osborne Memorial Scholarship to Kylie Summers.
